Superbowl LII, C'Elisir D'Amore and The Lady of the Camellias top our February events guide

As winter continues to drag on, February is the perfect month we could all use a much needed break to escape the bleak coldness. This month's event list is pretty spectacular with Cineplex airing the Superbowl for the first time along with some other real gems to keep you warm.

Feb 4th: Super Bowl LII - NFL Sunday Nights

Yes, you read that right, Cineplex is bringing the Super Bowl to the big screen! In select VIP theatres you can hang out in an extra-comfortable seat and enjoy seatside food and beverage service throughout the big game. No matter which team you're rooting for, that's something worth cheering about! Watch the video below for all the details!

Feb 10th: L'Elisir d'Amore - Metropolitan Opera

Donizetti’s comic gem L’Elisir d’Amore, staged by Bartlett Sher and conducted by Domingo Hindoyan, stars Pretty Yende as the spirited Adina, with Matthew Polenzani as Nemorino, the simple peasant who falls in love with her. David Luciano makes his Met debut as the role of Adina’s arrogant fiancé, Belcore and Ildebrando D’Arcangelo sings the role of the magic potion-peddling Doctor Dulcamara. Domingo Hindoyan makes his company debut conducting.

Feb 11th: Bolshoi Ballet: The Lady of the Camellias

At a theatre performance of ‘Manon Lescaut’, the young and naive Armand is utterly captivated after meeting the ravishing and most desirable courtesan Marguerite Gautier. Their encounter gives birth to a passionate yet doomed love… Alexandre Dumas fils’s novel comes to life on the Bolshoi stage, with prima Svetlana Zakharova as the ailing Marguerite seeking love and redemption from her life as a courtesan. The Bolshoi brings choreographer John Neumeier’s work of rare beauty and tragic depth to new emotional heights, accompanied by Chopin’s romantic piano score.

Feb 12th: Atlantic Journey: A Discovery of Coasts, Islands and Sea

Follow the everyday life and unusual adventures of a daring crew on an epic two-month journey across the Atlantic Ocean aboard the Lucia 40 catamaran. Sail with this intrepid family and their captain, boarding the ship at La Rochelle in France, making stops along the way in La Coruña in Spain and Lisbon in Portugal, as well as Madeira and the Canary Islands, before arriving at their last destination, the Island of Saint Martin, in the heart of the welcoming French Antilles. During this epic saga, enjoy magnificent views of the European and African coasts and witness the unpredictable and untamable whims of the weather. You will experience a unique and unforgettable adventure firsthand, discovering new cultures and the ocean.

Feb 22nd: Cat on a Hot Tin Roof - National Theatre Live

Tennessee Williams' twentieth century masterpiece Cat on a Hot Tin Roof played a strictly limited season in London's West End in 2017. Following his smash hit production of A Streetcar Named Desire, Benedict Andrews' 'thrilling revival' (New York Times) stars Sienna Miller alongside, Jack O'Connell and Colm Meaney. On a steamy night in Mississippi, a Southern family gather at their cotton plantation to celebrate Big Daddy's birthday. The scorching heat is almost as oppressive as the lies they tell. Brick and Maggie dance round the secrets and sexual tensions that threaten to destroy their marriage. With the future of the family at stake, which version of the truth is real - and which will win out?

Feb 24th: La Bohème - Metropolitan Opera

An exciting young cast stars in Franco Zeffirelli’s classic production of La Bohème, the most-performed opera in Met history. Sonya Yoncheva stars as Mimì opposite Michael Fabiano as the passionate writer Rodolfo. Susanna Phillips reprises the role of the flirtatious Musetta and Lucas Meachem sings the role of her lover, the painter Marcello. The cast also features Alexey Lavrov and Matthew Rose as Rodolfo and Marcello’s friends Schaunard and Colline and Paul Plishka as Benoit and Alcindoro in this performance, led by Marco Armiliato.
