After an encounter with a psychic and some special tea, Ali (Taraji P. Henson) develops the power to read the minds of men, giving her insight into how the dudes around her think (or in some cases, don’t think). It also gives her an advantage as she struggles to break into the boys club in her job as a sports agent.
This comedy spins the premise of the 2000 film What Women Want and brings it to a new generation at a time when gender dynamics are increasingly complicated in and out of the workplace. Tackling this subject matter with laugh-out-loud humour allows the film’s message to connect in an entertaining, accessible way.
We spoke to star Taraji P. Henson, director Adam Shankman and producer William Packer about the relevance of this comedy in today’s society. Watch the interview and see What Men Want in theatres on February 7th.
What Men Want is the perfect date-night film.
This is one to see with your significant other (or your bestie) so you can hash out gender politics over a drink after the film. You’ll be sharing plenty of contagious laughter with the audience and your partner.
